We are pleased to announce When the Light is Fire: Maasai Schoolgirls in Contemporary Kenya by Heather D. Switzer has been awarded the Jackie Kirk Outstanding Book Award for scholarly work in gender and education by the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES).
The Jackie Kirk Award annually honors a published book that reflects Kirk’s areas of expertise with emphasis on gender and education and/or education in conflict (fragile states, post-conflict, peace education).
